Can You Send BRIS2032 Your Brisbane 2032 Photos and Video?
Yes. Games Watchers is a reader programme for people who live near a 2032 site and see it change week to week: the Victoria Park fence line, the RNA Showgrounds, the Gabba, the Fitzroy River at Rockhampton, Sunshine Coast Stadium, any of the 37 venues. Send a photo or a short phone video with the date and where you stood. If we use it, you're credited by name on the site, in the newsletter and on our social channels, and you keep the copyright. We only publish with your written permission on the terms below, we never use it in paid advertising without asking separately, and we take it down if you ask. Join the list first; the submission address and the short licence come back by email.
What are we looking for?
The record of the build, from the ground, over time. A photo of the same spot every month is worth more than one dramatic shot. Fence lines, cranes, closures, signage, road works, the river at Rockhampton, the showgrounds during the Ekka. Phone quality is fine. Vertical video under 30 seconds is ideal.
What we're not looking for: anything shot by climbing a fence or entering a site, drone footage over parks, people or events, or anyone's face who hasn't agreed to be in it. Those we won't publish.
Join Games Watchers
We'll email you the submission address, the one-page licence, and a monthly note on what we're short of.
Free. No spam, leave whenever. You keep your copyright. What are the terms?
You keep copyright. You give BRIS2032 a non-exclusive, worldwide, ongoing licence to publish the material on bris-2032.com, in the BRIS2032 newsletter and on BRIS2032 social accounts, with your name as credit. Paid advertising needs a separate yes from you. You can withdraw future use at any time by email.
- You confirm you took the photo or video yourself and own the copyright.
- You confirm nobody identifiable in it has objected to being published, and that any child in it is yours or you have a parent's permission.
- You confirm it was taken from a public place, without entering a closed site, and any drone footage complied with CASA rules (no flights over people, parks or events).
- You give BRIS2032 a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to publish, crop, caption and resize it on the BRIS2032 website, newsletter and social accounts, with a credit in the form you choose.
- Use in paid advertising, or licensing to anyone else, needs your separate written consent.
- You can withdraw the licence for future use at any time by emailing us. Copies already published or printed may remain.
- We never pay for submissions and never ask you to take risks to get one.
The email you get after joining carries these same seven points. Replying "I agree" to that email, with your files attached, is the whole process.
Why do this at all?
Because nobody is keeping a public, dated, ground-level record of the build, and by 2032 that record will be the only one that isn't an official render. Three hundred people photographing a fence once a month is a better archive than any press release.
Credit line
Every published image carries "Photo: Your Name / BRIS2032 Games Watchers" unless you ask for a different form or no name. The choice is yours each time.
Frequently asked questions
Do I keep the copyright in what I send?
Yes. You keep copyright. You give BRIS2032 a non-exclusive licence to publish it with a credit. Non-exclusive means you can do whatever you like with it as well.
Will BRIS2032 use my photo in ads?
Not without a separate written yes from you. The standard licence covers the website, newsletter and BRIS2032 social accounts only.
Can I withdraw permission later?
Yes, for future use, by email. Anything already published may remain, but we will remove it from the live site if you ask.
Can I fly a drone over Victoria Park to film the stadium site?
No, and we won't publish it. Victoria Park during works is a populous area under CASA rules, which prohibit flying over people, parks and events. Ground level only.
Is there payment?
No. Games Watchers is voluntary. The credit is the deal, and the record is public.
What if someone is recognisable in my video?
Don't send it unless they've agreed. If a child is in it, only a parent or guardian can agree.
